Original Work

May 23, 2011

This work is symbolic of the loss of childhood. Taking place in a room without youth, the computer is the central focus of the work rather than the Hello Kitty doll, which is face down. This shows the death of childhood and a transition from focus on childish things like Hello Kitty to modern day technology.

I interpret this piece to be communicating the death of childhood (the prostrate Hello Kitty) in the face of newer technologies such as the laptop. This theme is increasingly prevalent in our society today, as children are spending more and more time indoors, rather than playing outside as we did in our childhoods. This connects to your theme of life by showing a generational transition.

HANNARABI! Hola, so I have to say that you have a nice picture of Hello Kitty’s pretty little pink dress but how does this picture relate to your life? Why is Hello Kitty lying face down? Why did you choose to take a snapshot of your laptop desktop?

Omg. Pretty! I love it. It’s very creative. It makes me feel relaxed. I like the background on the laptop. I need to get that one…It kind of makes me sad that Hello Kitty is lying face down on the table. Did she die? Sad… ): But still nice!
